The Department of Nuclear Medicine

The Department of Nuclear Medicine is one of the first Departments of Nuclear Medicine in Shanghai. The Department of Nuclear Medicine set up at both the Southern and Northern Branch has advanced facilities and comprehensive inspection items. There are nearly 20 medical staffs including physicians, technicians, physics, radiochemistry, computer engineers and nurse practitioners. The Department of Nuclear Medicine boasts the latest molecular imaging equipment PET-CT of US GE company, small medical circular accelerator for preparing positron, radiopharmaceuticals lab constructed as per GMP requirement, SPECT/CT imager of PHILIPS, SPECT imager with dual search unit of US GE company, dual energy X-ray bone density tester for whole body and other top end inspection equipment of nuclear medicine. Its overall strength ranks top of domestic advanced disciplines in the same field. With the concerted efforts of all staff of the Department, the Department of Nuclear Medicine has won two Natural Science Foundation and other three projects at ministerial level and eight projects at hospital level, some of which have passed the scientific and technological achievement accreditation. In 2008, the Nuclear Medicine, Radiology and B-Ultrasound become key disciplines.
The Department is responsible for teaching the students majored in nuclear medicine of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and Nanjing Medical University. As a station for masters and doctors in imaging medicine and nuclear medicine of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and Nanjing Medical University, it has cultivated excellent post graduates. The Administrative Director of the Department is Zhao Jinhua.
